Samuel’s
of Rhinebeck opened for business on April 30, 1994. With its
classic checkerboard sign hanging over the sidewalk and its
charming wood paneling interior lined with shelves stocked
with goodies, Samuel’s recalls the simple elegance of
old-fashioned New England candy stores.
Storeowner Ira Gutner conceived Samuel’s as a popular
hometown destination with personalized service and City savvy,
a nostalgic place where every customer
is treated like a regular and nobody leaves disappointed.
The store’s namesake belongs to Ira’s beloved
Uncle Samuel, whose love for chess also inspired the logo
that adorns Samuel’s trademark packaging.
Today, Samuel’s has established itself as the premier
coffee bar and gourmet sweet shoppe in upstate Rhinebeck,
NY. The store offers an incredible selection of delicious
coffees, homemade baked goods, blended teas, gourmet chocolates,
old-fashioned penny candies,
and a unique assortment of sophisticated gift items. The ambiance
of Samuel’s, as reflected by its products, service and
gift ideas, is always personal and intimate, with a funky
flair. On any given day, the store is filled with local residents
and loyal customers who converge on Samuel’s for their
daily dose of caffeine, conversation and jazzy vibes.
